Classes that I am taking this semester (Spring 2026)

I just finished my first week of class of my Sophomore spring! Things have been going well so far, and I just wanted to record my thoughts on my classes now.

This semester (Spring 2026), I am taking Interactive Music Systems (21M.385), 6.S976 (ML and Cryptography), 6.4200 (Robotics: Science and Systems), and 18.405 (Advanced Complexity Theory). In addition, I am also taking skating class for the first half of the semester. Overall, I think I have a pretty balanced schedule, with one HASS-A, 2 classes related to my major, and 1 CI-M.

  • 21M.385: I pre-registered for this class because I heard very positive feedbacks from people who have taken it in the past! I really enjoy listening to a wide range of music, from classical music to rock to J-pop. I also like playing rhythm games in my spare time. I look forward to building my own music project in this class.
  • 6.S976: I saw annoucements of this class in late January, after I finished my pre-registration. I have always wanted to learn something related to cryptography, but I did not have enough time in the past. This class simply seems relevant and cool.
  • 6.4200: Robotics CI-M. I think building robots are really cool. I am currently UROPing in a robotics lab, mostly focusing on robot learning. This only provides me with a relatively narrow view with respect to the whole field. Robotics are fascinating because it is where hardware and software meets, where researchers are trying to come up with ways to create physically intelligent beings. I am indeed going to get a broader understanding of robotics in this class, where I could learn about control, perception, and motion planning. We will also make a racecar as our final project. Super exciting!
  • 18.405: This is Advanced Complexity Theory class. I was hesitating between this class and 18.226 (Probablistic Methods in Combinatorics), both of which are math topics of my interest. I finally decided to take this class because of some content overlap between 18.226 and 18.619. I went to the first two lectures and they were great. In terms of the material, at least I think I still understand stuff in pset0…? I hope it won’t turn out to be too bad because we will have midterm in this class.

That’s all. Hopefully I will post something about how I feel about these after midterms. If you are interested, stay tuned!
